Meadowfield

Rabbits

Welcome to Rabbits class, part of the Early Years Foundation Stage at Meadowfield School. We have hit the ground running and have been busy getting to know each other and the class routines. We have been having lots of fun learning through play. You can see some of what we’ve been doing in the gallery. Hope you enjoy!

Teachers: Ms Grant

Teaching Assistants: Ms Cox, Ms King

In Rabbits class we learn through a combination of planned play and teacher directed lessons. We work to the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and Development Matters documents which cover seven areas of learning.  These are:
Personal, Social and Emotional development (PSED); Communication and Language (CL); Physical Development (PD); Mathematics (M); Understanding the World (UW) and Expressive Arts & Design (EAD).

This year we will be visiting the seven areas of learning through different topics:
Term 1 Autumn; Term 2 Celebrations; Term 3 Travel and Transport; Term 4 Spring and Growth; Term 5 The Seaside and Term 6 Animals and Mini beasts.

In order for all the children to reach their full potential we use a multi-sensory approach to teaching and learning. The children develop skills in the seven areas of learning through stories and songs, Write-Dance, ‘messy’ play, and small world and role play. The children have the opportunity to explore and investigate a wide range of different learning materials. We have access to a sensory room, soft play room and the adventure playground to support physical development. We plan learning opportunities in different areas, for example in the sensory garden and the outside learning area. We have lots of fun but we learn lots too!
