Kent PSCN Schools Football Win

Meadowfield school Football team competed at a Kent PSCN schools competition today at Milestone academy on Thursday October 22nd. Their first group match pitted them against the Wyvern school (Ashford), with Meadowfield winning 3-1.

Following this, a 1-0 win against Ifield school (Gravesend) and a 0-0 draw against St Nicholas (Canterbury) were enough points to put them through to the knockout phase.

Into the semi finals, they faced the hosts Milestone and very competitive gave saw both teams cancel each other for 0-0 at full time. This meant straight to (best of three) penalties and things looked good when Meadowfield goalkeeper Steven saved two penalties and Meadowfields Shawn scored his penalty to take Meadowfield through to the final.

The final brought a rematch against Ifield and it was clear Ifield were out for revenge as they worked tirelessly and had carved out some great chances that needed some last ditched tackles from defenders Tiffany, Aaron and Harry on several occasions. However, halfway through the match Declan, Shawn passed the ball between them and the ball ended up at the edge of the 18 yard box at Gina's feet. Gina looked up and chipped the ball, which ended up in the right hand corner of the goal to put Meadowfield 1-0 up. The next few minutes had some nerve wracking moments with Ifield staging last ditched attacks and Meadowfield squandering several opportunities to seal victory, but in the end the score stayed the same and Meadowfield were crowned the winners. After being unbeaten in friendlies last season, Meadowfield will now be known as the team to beat after this success.

The team have been training weekly during a lunchtime Football club and their dedication is clearly playing dividends.
