Enquire

Our Enquire department curriculum is designed in a way that is broad, balanced and relevant to all our pupils throughout the Key Stages 2, 3 and 4. Pupils who are in the Enquire department already have well developed behaviours and approaches for learning and therefore are able to access greater levels of academic challenges.

The curriculum is designed in such a way to enable pupils time to explore, deepen their understanding and embed important skills for life and adulthood. There is a significant emphasis on there being connectivity between the different subjects. This is to ensure our pupils continue to develop their understanding holistically and are then able to make connections between what they are learning in class to the wider world. In Enquire we make sure that our programme of learning is always relevant and meaningful to our pupils and their futures.

For all our classes in Key Stage 2, 3 and 4 they have a form tutor who delivers the majority of their lessons within the main class base. They are responsible to monitor progress, liaise with parents/carers and attend any meetings concerning the pupils in their class; including the annual Person Centred Review meeting, in which EHCP targets are established and reviewed.

The core learning areas within Enquire are:

  • Communication and Language
  • Personal, social and emotional development
  • English
  • Maths
  • Science
  • Physical development
  • Art and Design
  • Music and drama
  • Who are we and where are we?

Our Key Stage 4 pupils have the opportunity to select two subjects from our options subjects. These are: Art, Media Studies or Music and Drama.

All pupils in Key Stage 4 work towards accreditation at a level that is appropriate for them. This ranges from Entry Pathways to evidenced based Entry Level to test based Entry Level.

Nurture Time

By having a nurture time as part of our curriculum it enables our pupils to build important relationships, as well developing a sense of self-worth. Nurture time takes place when pupils arrive in the morning for the first 45 minutes of the day. By having a nurture session at the beginning of everyday it supports our pupils in settling in and getting ready for the day ahead. There will be a variety of activities for pupils to take part in, which include:
